car seat

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Its been a very long time since I have delt with an infant carrier. The one I have has head pads that are installed but I'm wondering if they work as well as the head supports you can buy? If I need to buy some which ones are the safest?

  • ok well im totally insanely anal about carseat safety lol and i can tell you that its considered extremely unsafe to use any head supports, or covers that didnt come specifically with or werent made specifically for that particular carrier by that same manufacturer... i bought some for my son when he was born not knowing all this and had it pointed out to me by a nurse leaving the hospital- apparently the ones you can buy since they fit around the straps can be a problem as far as safety- she said its actually safer to use a rolled up recieving blanket on either side of baby if your worried about them staying in snug when their a newborn and cant hold themselves up.. just dont wrap them around the actual harness straps
  • Yea I'm very anti messing with the harness. 11 years ago I used head support till she was older. Some are just so bulky and that can't be safe
