Traveling, Insight on Florida.

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Is traveling ok while pregnant. I'm 12w 5d and I'm planning on relocating to Clearwater, Florida. I have a sister down there. I want to fly, is it safe? Anyone familiar with the assistance there in Florida? Good doctors, housing assistance, and etc.

  • Florida is usually pretty good. Sometimes they can be slow but once you have medicaid and stuff it will cover pretty much everything. Be ready cause summer isn't great for pregnancy

  • I'm not sure about Clearwater. I lived in Miami Beach and there's not much assistance as far a housing but I know Ft. Lauderdale has some.

    As for flying, my doctor told me its safe up until 36wks. I flew to Miami at 8wks and was horribly sick the whole flight. I've refused to fly since then but it may be different for you.

  • @hihall yea I visit last summer (not pregnant) and it was horrible. I pretty much stayed in the house until the sunset. I'm currently on medicaid now will I have to reapply there?

    @ashleyfew thanks

    @mommys1stbundle thanks a lot yea hopefully it isn't bad I already have enough sickness without flying lol
  • Clearwate is very nice I lived there once. Medicaid is slow in being approved but will cover you. Don't forge to sign up for wic
  • Thanks @KalikoJenie will I have to apply again for medicaid? I'm already covered here in Michigan.
  • I believe while medicaid is a nationwode thing I believe they do run state by state. Everything is florida medicaid. Although things may just transfer for you. Don't forget to bring the papers from your old doctor to the doctor you choose here or else you'll have to wait for faxes to have appointments set :(
  • I believe you will have to reapply or transfer. I'm from the pan handle. It doesn't take that long for me to get what I need from them.
