Who's staying with you in hospital? NEED HELP!

Ok..i know for sure my hubby is staying the nights with me...but. I have a 2yr old daughter...who I have yet to let her stay the night anywhere yet because I am so damn attached to her. I know I'm going to b extremely tired and busy with the baby in the hospital...also...a 2 yr old is not going to be able to do much in a hospital room and is going to b fussy...but I can't stand the thought of not being with my baby girl...r any of u second moms kind of in the same position? Or any moms who have been in my position? What are you going to do or what have you done?

  • My son has only spent the night at my parents. Hubby will spend the night with me, and mom will be there during labor. My son will be with my dad or mom and dad..
  • My boys are staying at home, where they're comfortable, and my mom is going to stay with them. They will also be able to sleep in our bed if they need to, so they feel closer to us.
  • How old is your son? See...i wouldn't mind having her stay the night at a family members I don't think...but his mom has a 2 yr old and a 4 month old of her own...so she's busy already. My mom had a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old. And bartends also certain nights...my grandma world as a school custodian on night shift...theres noone else...but that's not really my problem...my problem is letting my daughter go...i know its just for a few nights...but I have never been a night with out her for the last 2 yrs...
  • My son is 16 months... I wouldn't let him go spend the night till he was 1 - I had a hard time letting go too... but now it is a nice break sometimes..
  • You might want to check the facility where you're going to deliver because most places especially hospitals don't allow children to stay.
  • My husband will be unable to stay with me in the hospital this time. We have 3 other children he needs to be home for. We don't have a large support system and are going to have a hard time just finding someone to care for them when I go in for my csection so hubby can at least be there for that.
  • My boys will be at home with my mom & my hubby will be staying at hospital with me. After labor my boys will come to the hospital to see the new peanut but at night theyll be at home with their grandma & they can call me anytime.
  • My son is 4 and he will definitely not be staying. Ill be tired and in pain. And he hates to see me that way so when he comes visits his brother I'm going to put on my happiest face. He'll be staying with his grandma.
  • Maybe try letting her stay with whoever will be watching her a few times befoe you go into the hospital. She'll think its fun and it will be good for both of you and you'll be less stressed about when the time comes.
  • Also if you ask your mom or someone now they will probably be able to take the time off as long as they tell their boss early enough
  • @laura536 that's a good idea...thanks
@hihall my mon only bartends a few nights a week...and that's her only income...so I don't really want to ask her to do that... Thank all of you ladies!

  • My husband is staying with me throughout the whole thing. Our 1 year old son is ganna stay with my in-laws...we are trying to get him to get used tho their place so we take him over for sleepovers that way he will know it good and get used to having others around him for couple days. :) He's doing a really good job. I know I would love to have him with me as well in the hospital but with the c section and all i wont have the strength and time to take of him there.
  • My best friend flew from nevada to texas to stay w/ my daughter when i had my son. Then my mom flew from texas to az 3 yrs later when u had my other son. This time my kids are older and dad will be going home to be with them. I've had my 3 where hubby stayed with me when he can. This time around I will feel better if he's home with the other kids. Its hard though when they are so little. Think of a good friend you can trust. Then give them "practice" time w/ your two yr old. That's what we did. Had my friend fly out a week early and hubby and i went out to dinner and shopping and for a walk three of those nights so my friend could practice putting her to bed. Another suggestion, hire someone now to come and stay, while your close by and able to come home if needed. That way you know you find the right person and can feel reassured about leaving her. Sometimes the best help is hired help. Lots of places to find sitters that have checked backgrounds and references for you :) good luck hun!
