@bumi Any prenatal with iron and folic acid. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish and fish oil. It's good for development for the first six months of life and also good for adults brain health.
Right my doc told me to take prenatal, feosol (iron supplement) , and caltrate (calcium an vitamin d) do you guys have to take all those pills......do y'all think its to much
@Paige11 I take the prenatal plus tablets and they have iron and folic acid in them. A dr at the hospital prescribed them to me. I'll see if my dr wants me to take anything special when I go see her tomorrow.
I don't think there is such a thing as a "best" prenatal vitamin. You might also need to switch brands a few time. I tried an all organic one and was sick to my stomach all the time. Your best bet is to either get your doctor to advise you on a brand or atleast try and find one that fits all of your doctors requirements.
I tried a few different ones and had trouble tolerating them. Finally, she prescribed me a prescription vitamin. They work just fine but I did check the ingredients. It's not much different than the over the counter ones as far as ingredients. It comes in two pills. One is the DHA supplement. I am also taking a vitamin D over the counter supplement because my levels were too low at the last blood test.
The prescription ones are expensive - $68/month - if your insurance does not cover it. She said they try to get patients to work with an over the counter one to save that extra out of pocket costs... thankfully my insurance covers the vitamins and I was able to use a coupon on the co-pay to make them entirely free - but that is rare (according to her?).
