sleepin on belly,?

Okay so I'm about 19 weeks, but I'm not big at all yet, the only comfortable way for me to sleep is Layn on my belly, always has been, but when should I stop, can't b safe for baby, can it,?

  • Id like to know the answer to this as well. I've always been a stomach sleeper and im 17 weeks tomorrow and still sleep on my stomach.

  • Ladies you need to quit sleeping on ur belly u are not allowing ur baby to breath. Try to sleep on ur side with a pillow behind ur back.

  • Not but when u sleep on ur belly u cant take a full breath so ur baby is not getting the oxygen it needs to breathe
  • Get a blow up inertube! Like a swim ring. Just blow it up part way. Or when your really big all the way. You can use pillows around you when your big to lay face down. For now while your smaller pump it part way then it will give enough lift and support that you can sleep mostly on your belly without squashing your baby or internal organs. As you get bigger it will start hurting to sleep on your belly too. I use the ring when I'm really big and blow it up just a little. Then lay across it. It goes flat under me, but puffs up under my belly and gives support without a big pillow.

  • Sleeping on your belly will NOT harm the baby. I check with my obgyn and the perinatal specialist and they both said that as long as you're comfortable, its fine. The baby will let you know if you need to change positions. I slept on my belly with my first pregnancy and delivered a beautiful, healthy baby boy. My son would usually pick a side of my belly to sleep on for the night and was perfectly content. Sleeping on belly will not cause the cord to wrap around baby's neck!   • When you're into your second trimester, its recommended not to sleep on your belly. Try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs or infront of your belly, preventing you from rolling onto your belly to sleep.
  • Wow I haven't asked my doc but I'm 29wks today n still sleeping on my belly w my leg up on a pillow tho. I usually sleeep on my right side but I've read alot of tips that say to sleep on your left side but I just cnt its not the same. Am I hurting my babygrl?
  • I have been working for an OB for 15 years..sleeping on your belly does NOT harm the baby. The baby can breathe. Your body will tell you what u can & cannot do. As u get further along, the best position is on ur left side and not on ur back.

  • If I remember correctly sleeping on your left side allows the blood to flow the easiest from your heart to your fetus. And I slept on my belly for as long as I could, after awhile it became to uncomfortable for me. I eventually started sleeping in whatever position was most comfortable for me and was told that was perfectly fine. The baby and your body will let you know what is best.

  • Trust me ur baby will let u know if the tummy sleeping is a problem. I was a tummy sleeper and I was able to do it until about 16 wks. Now Im 21wks and have been stuck on my right side for the last 5 wks otherwise I get kicked to death lol. She doesnt even really like when I sleep on my left side and will kick most of the time in that position too. I got a really comfy prego pillow from babies r us and u can position it to support ur belly if u need to. Best investment ever! So no worries the baby is fine and when it doesnt like how ur sleeping u will be completely uncomfortable for one reason or another and u'll know to change positions.
  • I have always been a belly sleeper. I sleep on my belly until i was about 6 1/2 months w my first she was just fine. Now after her the time frame decreased as to how long i couod lay on my belly w my other 2, they too were just fine.
  • I agree with listening to your body. I was a tummy sleeper and when i hit 8 weeks it made me really sick to sleep that way. If i even try to lay on my tummy for more than a few mins i get sick :(

  • Almost 24 weeks here and still a tummy sleeper with my leg propped on a pillow! I am also in the medical field, and it does not hurt the baby. Don't listen to that nonsense and sleep comfortably while you still can!
  • My best advice is to get a pregnancy pillow. Thank god for it, its the best thing ever- I'm 18 weeks and love it. I'm a belly sleeper, but ever since we found out were having a baby I've been sleeping on my life side... thank goodness cause its thee best way for the little angel. Don't read to much into ever single thing, ur concerned ask ur doctor he or she knows best! Happy pregnancy ladies ;)
