Rib and back pain

edited March 2011 in Second Trimester
I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and been having rib and back pains on my right side. Anyone else in the same boat as me? If so do you have any tips on reducing the aches?

  • Idk I had pain like that my last two pregnancies it started in my fifth month up to delivery I think it just the baby getting bigger and rising upwards
  • Im haven't gotten yet this pregnancy I'm only. 12 weeks along
  • Yes I have bad rib pain which my doc said is pleurisy which is inflamed lungs n its common in pregnancy from your organs shifting from the baby growing. He gave me a prescription for tylenol 3's but I don't know if they work as I haven't gotten it filled yet.
  • Yea my doc told me the same. Even made a joke about it. I thought he would of prescribed something to me but I guess its that common he felt no need to.
  • I am taking a prenatal class and the instructor gave me a few exercises that help. Try sitting with your knees bent and bottoms of your feet together as much as possible (like your doing butterfly exercises in an aerobics class without bouncing your knees). While sitting like this stretch your arms up over your head to stretch/straighten your ribs. There are a few more but I'm not sure how to describe them, but the 2 I mentioned help me the most and are supposed to help during labor (I'll let you know in a few weeks if that's true).
  • I'm goin through the same thing. My hunny rubs my back i get on my knees and he rubs it clockwise or try the pregnancy pillow put it under your belly when u sleep
