8 wk. Doctor appointment?

edited March 2011 in First Trimester
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow at 8 weeks and was wondering what to expect? I had my intake appointment so I thought this would be the next appointment where you get your first ultrasound and what not. But then I heard a lot of women don't even have an appointment at 8 weeks and have theirs at 12 to 14. I just want to be prepared if I'm going to have to have a pap smear. Lol.

  • Probably a pap, Def bloodwork, possibly depending on your Dr an ultrasound.
  • Pap, possible vag ultrasound, med history
  • I didn't get any bloodwork til 16wks
  • I had bloodwork done at my intake. Do they just keep doing bloodwork a every appointment? And do you think if I tell them I'm always cramping they'll just go ahead and give me a vaginal ultrasound since they're already going to be in there rummaging around?
  • Wow, really. I'm loving my Dr more and more everyday. I read everyday about things being done so much later to women. I was at my first ob appt. When I was BARELY 6 wks, everything was done at that time.
  • My first ob appt was at 8 weeks, did medical history, pap, prenatals.

At 10 wks I had my vag u/s and listened to the heartbeat, couldn't hear it so went back week later.

16 wks, blood work and heartbeat again

Next one is tomorrow at 18 wks for hopefully The gender.
  • Wow yea I have had a lot more done..... where do u live if I may ask
  • I'm a military wife and get everything done from military doctors and have tricare. I could have less done because they're just cheap. Idk though. It would be nice to get a lot done like you though!
  • Texas.

And cramping is very normal, I still cramp.
  • I live in TX as well hummmmm. I know I am high risk however I have not had much more donr than my friends that are also pregnant
  • I know I cramp all the time. I just want an ultrasound. Lol I hate waiting.
  • Maybe just different standards at different OB offices. There are only 2 in this town I think, and I decided to use the same one sister did. But moving next week to nyc, so I kind of expect somethings to be redone even though paper work will be transferred.
  • Wow what a move.
