acid reflux

edited March 2011 in First Trimester
Almost 6 weeks and experiencing horrible acid reflux. Never had this in my first pregnancy except when I was in labor. Any suggestions on how to relieve it?

  • Gaviscon was good for me in my last pregnancy and I've already started getting it again so will use it again. Also see if certain foods trigger it, spicy foods, fizzy drinks are common ones and then try avoiding them x
  • I second Gaviscon... Its the onlt thing that worked... After taking it (chew it really well) just sit-up till the pain subsided a little then u can lay down... if not it sometimes didnt work for me.
  • Tums work for me.
  • I feel like Tums make mine worse! I avoid the reflux foods and sip milk if I get it.

Aloe vera juice is also awesome - the greatest thing ever, actually, but I don't think preggos should drink it frequently.
  • Tums work for me most of the time but when it gets unbearable my ob said zantac is fine to take as long as it isn't all the time. I've had problems with acid reflux before being pregnant so sometimes even water can trigger it for me, hope you feel better :)
