edited April 2011 in Baby showers
My mom and I are planning my baby shower and its a first time for both of us and I found a few games to play but nooooo clue what to get for prizes for the winners, we're tight on money i dont mean to be cheap but im trying my best, i put in the invitations anyone who brings diapers will enter a raffle to win a prize( I'm thinking $25 gift card to somewhere) is that too cheap? and any suggestions on what to get for smaller prizes? need help thank youu(:

  • My sister gitta a gift card and little bath accessories for her prizes
  • i'm thinking bath stuff from dollar store cause we're strapped on cash, but i want people to have fun.
  • Yes, go browse the dollar stores, sometimes they have kitchen stuff (towels, oven mitts), mugs (you can fill them with candy if they're too plain), candles, bath products like you said, maybe even stationary. Ross also has inexpensive gifts.
  • I don't think $25 is too cheap. People won't be going for the prizes, they'll be going to celebrate the fact that you're having a baby!
  • When I had mine I gave everyone lottery tickets .. My cousin won $100 on a $1 scratch off everyone loved it
  • Great idea with the lottery tickets.
  • This is odd :/ not trying to offend anyone, but I was always taught that it was poor etiquette and tacky to throw your own baby shower. Did I miss the memo somewhere? I've never been to a shower given by the mom to be. When did this become normal? Ppl really do that now? :/ don't attack me, I honestly nvr heard of this.
  • Not cheap at all. I gave bath and body works hand soaps I was going to give for prize but ended up giving one to everyone. Since your tight on money you could give as a gift every girl likes smell good soap right? Lol I love getting stuff like that at baby showers. They always have good sales :)
  • wait, let me rephrase. I HEARD of it, but they always get talked about...
  • My sister found these adorable bags at the dollar store, they were shaped like strawberries & other things (I can't remember) but you flipped them inside out and they became large tote bags. Everyone loved them and they were only a dollar!
  • I read her mom and her are planning it,that's not exactly planning yourself one,my step mom is throwing mine but she likes to involve me and ask for my opinions and input since it is for me...so I don't think its tacky,is much rather help out and be able to have some of my own ideas in it them to walk into an old fashioned surprise baby shower but to each is own.
  • yeah my mom is helping my because my M.I.L was supposed to but we recently had a falling out and she ended up saying my child and i were an embarassment and i was not grown enough to be a parent so i said screw her this would be more special to my mom anyway since it's her first grandbaby. And since she's never planned one and niether have i we're kinda just doing the best we can lol, thanks everyone for the ideas(:
  • for my last baby shower we did lotion and spray . and the gift card is a great idea . i wish i would of thought of that !
  • Every Baby shower I've ever been to the prizes are gifts for the mom to be. Just little can't stuff.
  • @cinnabon I agree I don't understand it. to be honest I think its a little sad to have to thro your own shower! I'm hoping I never have to because that would be depressing!

Definately check out a dollar tree there stuff is usually a little better then other dollar stores.
  • At mine my mom bought little plants/flowers that we put on every table as a table setting and then at the end had a little raffle and people got to take them home. Also had things from the dollar store.
