testing for gestational diabetes

Tomorrow im 7 months pregnant and for my monthly visit they said they'll be testing me for gestational diabetes. But why can't I eat or drink anything after midnight before my appointment in the morning? What exactly do I have in store for me tomorrow morning?

They make you drink this orange tasting drink and then sit for an hour. After the hour they take you blood. If you fail the test then they make you do it again for 3 hours. FUN!!!!!

Im not sure why your not supposed to eat it might be bc itll affect your results? Are you doing the one hour glucose screening or three hour one? my dr gave me the bottle to drink an hour before I needed my blood drawn. Everyone but one person said the drink was nasty, but I liked it lol. (fruit punch) my friend had the 3 hour one and they drew blood 3 times after each hour.

Mine was 2 hours. I drank an Orange drink. Tasted like a flat sunkist. It wasn't nasty...just real sweet and you pretty much have to chug it. So my belly was a little upset! They drew blood after 1hr then again after 2 hours. Results come back in a couple days.
