Have questions about breastfeeding

edited April 2011 in Pregnant
I have been pregnant twice before and both times I wasnt able to breastfeed. Am I doing something wrong or is my body just not made for breastfeeding? If there is anyone that has any tips on how I might possibly be able to breastfeed with this baby please let me know.

  • What has been the problem in the past?
  • I tried with my son, and I couldn't because the stupid nurse who I TOLD not to bottle feed went ahead and did so anyways. I wanted to ring her neck!

I think being persistant and just sticking with it is the only advice I have since I've never done it. Also, I hear pumping helps to ensure your milk is coming in nicely.
  • I've breastfed my 3 kids and my best advice would be not to use bottles or formula as an option at all. Act like there is no such thing unless of course your told by a professional that your not producing milk. But I find that when babies have the option for a bottle they lose interest
  • Request the baby room with you so that you can monitor what he/she is fed. They also have new bottles called breastflow that work perfectly with breastfeeding. I am going to nurse and bottlefeed and those are the bottles the pediatrician recommended. I am going to pump too so no need for formula.
  • Ive tried all of these and none have worked yet. Im starting to think Im not cut out for breastfeeding :(
