Underarm cyst??

edited April 2011 in Pregnant
I thought it was a pimple but no pus and it keeps getting bigger (about the size of two peas) and it is so sore that I can barely put my arm down! It is hard as a rock. Any suggestions im debating on going to ER because that's what everyone is telling me to do.

That's normal early in pregnancy. I had them and they went away on their own. They are painful!

  • Yeah I did take a sterile needle to it two days ago and nothing. But I haven't since then. But im gonna get checked especially if its gotten even bigger by tomorrow
  • I have one and my Dr said it could be excess breast tissue due to the pregnancy. He said we would just keep an eye on it and it will go away on its own .
  • @babyjoshiesmom. Is it on your underarm? And its extremely sore?
  • Yes on my underarm, and its sore but the pain comes and goes now

  • Mine hurts so bad! Did your dr give you any advice on how to care for it? Im afraid to shave lol
  • My,sister had somethin like that but it was a milk gland just have your doc check it out to b on the safe side
  • I had them too but this was before I got pregnant and they hurt so bad! My shirys rubbed and even bras hury I did go to the dr because I kept getting them and they just gave me pain meds and I used heat on them. I feel ur pain so sorry but try a warm washcloth or heating pad as long as ur not breastfeeding cause if its to close to ur breast it will dry up ur milk.
  • Shirts* and hurt* sorry touch screen!
  • I don't feel so alone now! I've been trying to like prop my arm up alot so it can get air plus it keeps it from hurting! Im not breastfeeding, im only 18wks. But im going to try the warm wash cloth. This is my first and hopefully last one! If it gets worse I might go to the dr tomorrow but if not, I see my ob Tuesday morning. @most_blessed
  • Ewwww I had this same thing when I was like 19. Doctor said it was cellulitis, but I can't imagine it was that because when the sucker popped (more like drained), it was all green and stinky. It was like alien slime was coming from my arm and then a big hard rock lookin' thing came out. It bled for a day or two and continued to drain over a few days, but eventually healed up and hasn't caused any further problems. I do have an ugly scar from it, though.

The warm wash cloth definitely helped to bring all the (what i think was) infection to the surface.
  • Mine doesn't have any pus but looks like a mountain and it is hard all around it. If that's pus in there it has to be alot! I haven't shaved in 3 days (gross Ik) but it just hurts too bad to even try!! @BkE913
  • Is it a bug bite by chance? Mine was a huge, extremely painful, red bump (it was a lot larger than a "bump" but I can't think of how else to explain it...) that after 3 days of the wash cloth treatments finally ended up draining. It was nasty and gnarly but it felt sooooooooo much better once it finally exploded open haah.
  • I dont think its a bug bite bc I noticed it about 3 or 4 days ago and it was just felt like a knot. Then it started getting bigger I tried popping it with a needle then squeezing but nothing. I've been around alot of ppl who had spider bites and I don't think its that. @BkE913
  • well I bet it's like what I had then. Just prepare yourself. I woke up one day and there was this huge white "film" over it and I barely pushed on it and the little cover popped and it was literally like someone turned on a faucet on my arm and it just oozed out over the sink...ugh. It was nasty!
  • Ewwy! How many days did it take before actually burst? I think this one will be like a volcanoe lol it is soo freaking sore! Ohh and how often did u do the warm washcloth? @BkE913
  • It was probably a week total, or about 3 - 4 days after I had a doctor look at it. It was like 8 years ago, so I'm not exactly sure, but I want to say it was just every few hours, and I would do it for like 15 minutes at a time with as hot of water as I could stand it.
  • Ok thank you sooo much!! :) @BkE913
  • Welcome. ;)
  • Oh, and good luck!!
  • @BkE913 It has still not drained!!
