no medicaid bc i make too much, but im barely getting by now! ughhh!

just went for my first appt and got to see the baby and the babys heartbeat <3
BUT! i got denied for FL medicaid bc i make too much money apparently, even though we are struggling to make the bill payments on time! and the hubby doesnt have health insurance yet! (wont be until june or july that he gets it)
so theyre telling me that i have to pay 875 dollars for the next four months and thats not including additional ultrasounds, problem visits etc AND not including the hospital fees! and on top of that, i just had to pay 264 dollars for my confirmation appointment and need to get bloodwork done thats an additional 241 dollars! HEELP! what do i do!?!

  • Is there a health clinic that you can go to? I know here that you can be seen there without insurance. I am sorry that totally sucks!!!
  • Go to your local health department and see if they can help you. The one here gives free prenatal care.
  • I can't believe that! That's just crazy! Unless u are rich its pretty hard to not have health insurance and pay to have a baby!
  • Like the other moms said try the health department. Also you most likely won't be able to start under your husbands insurance until after birth because pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. Try some maternity insurance companies. They might be pricey but better than paying full price at the doctors. Good luck!
  • In my state of PA there is something called chip. For children.who's parents are denied medical,.I'm not sure if u qualify being pregnant. I think that is complete crap!
  • I started under my husbands insurance when i was 8 months pregnant with our second child. I guess it just depends on insurance companies.
  • YOur county might have special programs or you can look into some reduced healthcare for prenatal visits
  • my doctor does not turn any of my prenatal visits or delivery charges in until after baby is born. So the only thing I have to pay right now are for my blood tests and my ultrasound when I get it. Can you talk to your clinic and see if you can come up with some sort of payment plan, like so much per month as opposed to the 875 for the next few months. I also think that you should be able to go on your husbands insurance if it is a group insurance policy, usually when you have a group insurance policy they cover preexisting stuff including pregnancy.
  • the insurance company is Aetna and they dont look at pregnancy as a pre exsisting condition. thank god! but it kicks in until 60 days after he starts at the job, which will be the 17th. ive been looking into different doctors, but everything is so expensive! i tried calling the health departments down here, but its like none of them even care! im just so stressed out!
  • Have u tried applying for cash assistancr? Not sure if u r working or not but here in cali a 2 person household if u make less than 32k yr( i believe) than u qualify for cash assistance. Id look into it.
  • Would it benefit you more not to work? And its not fun but just cut back on all the extras that you don't really NEED...cable, eating out, etc. Heck become an Extreme Couponer...which is what I might be looking into soon!
