went to er...

edited February 2011 in Health
I went to the er last night for my severe headaches and they gave me morphine thru my IV as well as two tylenol with codeine. What I'm wondering is if that can really be okay for baby. I'm nine weeks and I did ask but it still seems weird. Does anyone know about this?

  • I called and left a message, waiting to hear back. I'll let you know what she says. I just think morphine is way too strong for a baby. I mean we can't take excederin but morphine is okay!? Doesn't make too much sense.
  • When I go in (almost monthly) they give me dilaudid and zofran with fluids. Same thing with my first. Everything is good. Btw dilauded is 4x stonger than morphine. Don't worry. Excedrine has asprin in it and chances are u will take way more of that. My ob gave me percocet for my massive headaches because I was nearly overdosing on tylenol daily. As long as you don't have it everyday or too much there is very little risk.
  • My Dr told me to take excedrin I think I was around 10 weeks I has bad headaches they say they wait till your in your second trimester its gotten to the point they put be in vicodin
  • I'm. 3w6d and I was hospitalized after I slipped and fell on ice and they gave me morphine also .I was told by the doc that morphine dosent harm the baby ..but it felt like it harmed me I felt like I wanted to faint started crying out of noo where but I guess that's my hormones
  • Thanks ladies. That's makes me feel a ton better. I'm still waiting to hear from doc. We are playing phone tag. I am for sure going to talk to her about something other than tylenol because that just doesn't cut it.
  • Wow morphine? When I had a migraine they face me 1000mg Tylenol, regular benadryll and zofran because I couldn't stop throwing up. The dr said that the benadryll and Tylenol work/help each other help the headaches and told me to do that as soon as I start to get a migraine again. Which I luckily havent
