First night being away from 17mth old daughter tom night..

edited April 2011 in Parenting
Tom. night will possibly be the first night my husband and I will be away from our daughter which is 17mths old..I am 6mths preg and am pretty emotional bout all this. I have to work all weekend and my husband works nights as well. He has a class sun morning and needs to be kid free so we thought this would be a good opportunity for my parents to watch her overnight. But on top of being the first time which im sure is hard enough..im pregnant and think the extra hormones are makin it that much harder and emotional..my husband just told me we could work it out with his family watchin her for the time we overlap work sched's but is totally behind me whatever i wanna do. I think it will be a good time right now for her to spend the night with them but its also hard. How old was everyone's first child when they spent the night with someone else? How was it for you/child/and babysitter(who)? Any suggestions for making it easier on parent/child?

  • Since I'm a first time mom, I don't have any personal experience, but my husband told me about when he and his ex wife went on a trip together without their son who was just a baby then. They were away from the baby for about 5 hours before she couldn't take it and they had to go back to her mom's to get him. Poor Julie!
I can understand how that will be hard, but knowing that she's safe with your hubby's family should give you at least some comfort. It will definitely be a learning experience for you!
  • I have a 16 month little girl. She stayed with my mom and dad for the first time cuz i was so sick with a stomach bug. She loved it but i missed her so much. Now she always wants to spend the night. Apparently theyre more fun then my husband and I.
