what to do during induction?

edited April 2011 in Giving birth
So I am being induced on Monday morning. I have my knitting, but that is it. I am affraid that I am going to end up bored while I wait for contractions to start. Does any one have any suggestions on what to do while I wait?

  • Find out if ur hospital had free WiFi and take a lap top if u have one. Keep up with pregly.
  • Read. PREGLY! watch a movie, meditate, sew a quilt (by hand) SLEEP!!!!!
  • Sudoku, or you can get one of those fuzzy posters and color it in with markers, I know it sounds childish but it helps with boredom.
  • Finish filling out your baby book and do the ton of paperwork they give you at the hospital. Sleep as much as possible and relax, read a magazine, read pregly, coloring book is a great idea! Beware though, you may not be waiting forever to start contractions. Everyone is different but for some, they start quickly after pitocin is started, especially if the doctor breaks your water in the beginning as well. Mine only took about 30 minutes to start up, but everyone is different :) good luck hun and congrats!!

  • Sleep! Definitely going to need it.
  • I believe the plan is to break my water, and use cervidel for the first bit, and after a few hours if contractions don't kick in, to add pit. Thanks for all the advice. I will have to add a few things to my hospital bag tomorrow. I hope it does go fast. I want to see this baby girl already!
