Old Wives Tales: String test?

Theres an old wives tale where you hold a string with your wedding ring, (In my case I just used my promise ring.) and you hold the string above your belly. If it starts moving in circles it's supposed to be a boy, and if it just moves from side to side it's a girl. Has anyone else tried this? And what were your results? I tried it and it came out as boy... Which I'm hoping for.. and my BD is convinced it's a boy from the first ultrasound. Smh. It's an odd lil test, only because the string was still, then it slowly started moving.

    Ok I didnt do it this time but my grandma insisted I did it with my son. I come from a very old school cherokee family and my grandma has very strong deep.roots she swears by it and she was right with my son this time around she had a dream and told me I was having a girl she told me she knew the name as well but it was written down and when I told her last week she handed me an.envelope sure enough it.was right which is weird cause the name we picked isnt common and ive never even heard it before so idk I always trust in my grandma

    Aww. I still don't get what makes the string do that. I was shocked it moved to begin with lol.

    ALL the old wives tales have been about half and half for me. This one had me thinking though.

    @sheilamae804 my gram is my best friend I could tell u guys some things that she has said that blow my mind she told me she was sad cause I wasnt naming the baby after her but that I had a good reason for the name I would pick and sadly enough I lost a friend a mnth later and we decided to use my friends name (changed slighlty) for our daughter I think she knew but was scared to tell me......thank.u for ur kind words :)

    @brttnywstn14 i have no idea.. the one i read told me circles for boys, back n forth for girls. Idk, i've seen it done on Tv, so i wanted to try it. I don't know what's true lol.

    I did it and it said boy, girl, boy. It's suppose to tell you how many you'll have and the sex. But at my last ultra sound we found out this one (#2) is a boy. My first was a boy. So it was right with the first but not the second one!

    @karelybabie & @brttnywestn14 i just looked it up online, and i've been to quite a few sites that says circles for boys, etc. IDK. lmao. i wish there was a DEFINITE answer. I'm too impatient to wait to find out the sex of the baby. lol.

    I have heard it both ways. I just tried this the other day too and I was shocked it moved as Well. It moved In circles for me. But I've read its boy in circles and I've read its girl in circles So Idk. It was fun though

    So I did this last night and it went in circles. Soo boy.. but my baby books says if it spins in circle its a GIRL and if it goes back and forth its a BOY. I think maybe you accidently switched the gender, or maybe my baby book did..

    My mom says circle for a girl and back forth for a boy. This is my third child and it has been right every time.

    @Leggs2011 nahh. i didnt switch it around. every site ive been on says circle for boy, etc. IDK. im not gonna trust it. hahaha. the only thing i do know 100% is that theres a baby in there. lol.

    Mine did circles all 50x I did it LOL and I am having a GIRL, so it was right for me!

    None of those wives tales worked for me lol even the chiense gender chart said boy and i'm having a little girl.

    @angelsmommy Everything was right for me, gender maker test, baking soda test, ring test, and chinese gender chart (the one with the lunar age)... although I did a couple stupid online tests that said boy lol

    I did all that and mine all came back boy and they are 100% sure its a girl. But i know some people its worked for.

    it didn't work for me. with my son the wives tales said girl and with my daughter they said boy! maybr my body is messed up lol(;
