  • You can request one but be prepared for them to turn it down hun. Sorry :( it all depends on your insurance and how your doctor works. You will get one around 20 weeks though, but for some, that's their first and last unless you have complications.
  • They will give you one around 20 weeks to tell the sex and check to make sure the sizes are right and all of babys organs look good. They will also look for any markers for down syndrome and things like that.
  • Hey girlly i requested one the first day i went in, for peace of mind cause i had to prior mcs.... and they gave it to me...u can always ask...gud luck hun...

  • I don have good insurance but I get one everytime I go....but my doc is really nice
  • I requested one when I got pregnant after my.miscarriage at 6 wks. I had to wait a few days for my insurance to approve it but thankfully they did and three days later I got to see my baby!
  • can't I like fake a panic attack n demand one? stress not good for baby right?

I was only allowed one with my first pregnancy and was going to be allowed one with this pregnancy but I had bleeding from my placenta so i got one at 12 weeks and 20. They charged me out of pocket though since my insurance wouldn't cover two. It was around $1200. I won't be paying that bill for awhile...
  • @megrod88 really that's insane! u can get a 3d one for cheaper! there's a place near me that does them for $259 n u get 2
  • I did end up getting a 3d one for $100 but I had to have a medical one first for the place near me to do it. I got charged $1200 for the emergency one my doctor gave me when I came to his office bleeding. Insurance is ridiculous, most of the time I think I'd be better off with medicaid.
  • Here, we have schools that you can make an appt to volunteer for the students to scan you. I just like to see my baby. Call up to the colleges and check if you have that.
  • I got two total. One at 14, second at 20. Im patient though. Hasn't even crossed my mind as we approach the home stretch. She's so tight in there we wouldn't be able to see much anyhow
