  • I had a c-section with my daughter and wont do it any other way...everything was perfect the recovery maybe longer but that's the last thing on ur mind when u have a beautiful baby. I also breastfeed for 7 months that just depends on how determined you are!
  • Ok so for those of you that haven't had a csection, it is painful and takes way linger to recover, I have had 2 and this will be my third and the more times you Get one done the more painful and kinder recovery cause of cutting through layers of scar tissue. My sister had 4 vaginal births and then a hysterectomy. And that is as close as a csection vaginal ladies will get, and the said it hurt like a bit**. Just to inform some of you soon to be mommys.
  • This will be my 3rd n planned. Is better than. Emergency c cection but baby's we're fine. I'd rather have c cection anyday than go thru the pain I went thru for 24hours
  • Things can go wrong with vaginal or csection.. Ive had 3 csections and they werent bad imo.
  • With mine, I lost feeling around the incision area, I had a severe hematoma & had to have 3 surgeries to fix it, I couldn't move for 2 days straight, then after they fixed it I had to wear something called a wound vac for 3 weeks it makes the incision heal from the inside out its basically a vacuum that sucks out any fluid, I had to have s home nurse come & change it 3 times a week & I could only take a shower 30 minutes before she arrived, my c-section wasn't the best experience but what happened to me they said it rare, so hopefully this one will go easier.
  • oh & mine was also an emergency c-section
  • This comment may make some people mad, but from what I've gathered, if you give birth vaginally, your body releases oxytocin, a bonding hormone, to you and baby. I'm not sure that you get that same hormone rush when you give birth by c section. I'm not trying to make anyone mad by implying that women who have c sections don't love their babies because that's just ridiculous I'd never make that assumption, but I don't think you get that hormone rush.

I'd like to reiterate, women who have c sections love their babies too! I already love my baby and s/he's still in me! I personally don't want one because I don't want to deal with the incision, possible infection, pain, and the scar afterwards. I don't even want an epidural lol.
  • I have 4 children. The first 3 were all natural with no pain medication. The third was a homebirth. My 4th was an emergency c-section, due to major illness/complications, my lungs blew out which caused my incision to burst open 3 days after giving birth. I was in a medically induced coma, so I don't remember, but they had a wound vac on me for 2 months or so, even after I 'woke up'. My incision itself is numb, but deep inside & around the scar is very tender. Doctor said I am able to have a VBAC this go round, so I am happy. The only reason I would go thru another c-section is for a tubal ligation (unless there are problems) but he gave me a choice of c-section or VBAC. There are pros/cons of each choice, but when it comes down to it its what's best for baby & mom. Good luck to each of you!
  • @victoriab i can see where research would give people that thought, but after a terrible vaginal birth the last thing i wanted to do was "bond" with anyone...so my "oxytocin rush" must have gotten wasted :)

As for my emergency c-section, it was horrible and I didn't even hold my baby boy until he was 5 hrs old or so.

My last birth was a scheduled c-section and it was AWESOME! Best experience yet. I had him. In my arms in less than an hour, and he was with dad during that first hour. I was up and around and feeling good before the night was over.

Now with all that said.....I am up at midnight tonight because my nearly ten yr old c-section scar is itchy and irritated. I have a weird pulling on my right side in thhis pregancy due to scar tissue AND have had 2 ectopics before this current pregnancy due to scar tissue blocking my right fallopion tube.

So, if you ask me (and remember I've done vaginal, ER c-sec and scheduled c-sec) I would never elect to have a c-sec BUT since its my only option. I choose to do scheduled rather than a VBAC. VBAC is a whole different ball of wax!

Trust me though if you can have a vaginal birth, please do not push for an elective c-section....it really shoulld be an final option rather than an elective bithing option.

But, this is all my personal opinion! :) good luck either way @dra765
  • Wow thanks for all the info ladies! Had no idea...
