Dr. Dilemma....input needed!

I recently got bad news that my uterus did not fully develop. Getting pregnant would be difficult, keeping it even harder, and if I dodged both of those...pregnancy will be high risk. After 2 years we are pregnant!!! I had my first appointment 3 days ago, had an ultrasound, and the dr wants me to see a specialist out of town for extra input, but did say everything looks great for 9 weeks. I love my dr but the office is difficult...hence my problem. He says he wants to see me at 12 weeks, I go to schedule, she says there is nothing till I'm into 15 weeks! I've called and left messages for the medical assistant (can't leave message for dr) and twice no call back! I'm high risk and will not have a pap, blood work...whatever else till second trimester!?! But like I said I love my dr. But concerned that if I can't get into see him or talk to him, what kind of quality treatment am I getting. I'm so afraid to switch dr.'s. It's my first!

What is your experience with changing dr.'s? Regrets? Things to look out for? I need advice!!!

I don't have any advice. But you do need to go when he wants.... does he have a regular nurse? Maybe they are better at returning phone calls.

I just switched doctors at 36weeks and really really wish I didn't have to. My old doctor wasn't doing deliveries so I had no choice.

I haven't changed dr's, so I'm not much help. It seems weird that she wouldn't schedule you though, since most offices keep a few open slots for emergency patients...

I think most drs wait to do all of that stuff til the second trimester.. BC if you miscarry theres nothing that can be done anyways..

Considering the doctor said he wanted to see you at 12 weeks you would think they would make it happen. Mabel just go into the office one day and tell them you want to talk to somebody since Boone will return tour call.

i had to change dr's in the middle of my pregnancy due to insurance and i was nervous but i absolutely love my new dr... if u do get a new one, search around til u find a dr u really like and has experience dealing with woman that has the same problems as u do..
