I would like a huge diamond pendant for my necklace with baby's birthstone in the middle...from my husband. He's sick of buying me diamonds but I don't care one bit.
  • Its apparently a gift for having a baby
    .. I'm guessing.

@MommyOfTwoPrincesses Its a present you get for having to go through all the pain of pushing and being in labor i believe
  • O ok. Never heard of it so im not sure hun. Lol
  • I want one!!!! Ima have to plant the idea in my husbands head lol
  • I believe it originated from other culters (not a 100% sure) but I think India (once again unsure its been a while since I read about it) they treat the mother to a week long spa treatment. All the woman get involved and she doesn't have to cook or clean. She gets her feet washed and hair done daily and the husband gives her a gift for bringing a child into the world. And how it came to america is because of all the different culters mixing so now we have the push gift. Please forgive me if my info isn't entirely correct. But that's the gist of it :)
  • I just heard it on pregnant in heels.... who's supposed to give the gift @jacobsbabymama?
  • Oh I see @littlefae .... well does a c section count?? Lol.
  • The father is supposed to give the gift
  • @Rosiepie I dont know honestly, thats the first place I heard of it xD that lady was going and picking it herself! But then again, it would make sense if your bd gave it to you.
  • @Rosiepie yes! You're still bringing a baby into the world and going through major surgery so in my book yes a c section counts lol
  • @Rosiepie I def think a c section should count! I hear the recovery for those is more painful than the recovery for a vaginal delivery.
  • Yay... lol.... hubby just got home making sure he knows of it! :) !
  • Lol I told my hubby about it and he just rolled his eyes at me.
But, he started looking at those necklaces with the babys birth stone in it so I'm excited! I might not get it right away due to money but when I do it will be awesome
  • Lol I made sure my bf knew all about it..he bought me a necklace with diamonds and a heart and at the top its a mother and baby. He was so excited that he gave it to me early :)
  • This is the best idea I've heard all day!once you push that baby out you feel like you deserve least a pat on the back!
  • @Rosiepie I JUST heard about push presents myself! I heard one of the girls in my clinicals talking about it.. Apparently it's a gift that the father gives the mother after she gives birth for doing all that work during labor. Heres the thing, the ENTIRE 9 gd months should be considered labor soooo while I love the idea of a push present I'm gonna go ahead and vote for presents during pregnancy instead of push presents because the baby is a pretty kick butt present and I feel like I'm workin pretty hard right now!
  • That was nice of him @mommy2b51111. I hope I get something nice! I'm sure I will my hubby is very thoughtful!
  • @littlefae that sounds awesome!! I could stand for a weeks worth of facials and massages!! And indian food is soooo tastey. Fortunately my husband is from a culture where the other women come when a baby is born and they help out too. And my neighbors (all foreign women) have offered to help! Maybe I could coax facials out of them too. ;)
  • Sounds like an excuse to get a gift to me. A pretty good excuse! ;) I'm dropping hints to my hubby that I want a new videogame for giving birth to our baby even tho I consider the baby to be the ultimate gift!
  • haha @victoraB! What kind of video game?! Thats so cute to me! I can't imagine he will be super opposed to a new video game :)
  • im definetally getting one. sounds like the greatest idea ever.
  • My hubby gave me a ring with diamonds on it after we had out 1st, nothing big but I loved it when I first saw it and he remembered =). It was also like a promise ring too. I'm expecting another with this one...LOL... he just laughs at me.
