Just a vent...seems that no matter what names i think of people in my life want to give their two cents...both my in laws and own mother have begged me not to use the name i picked! UGH!!! part of me says, hey i like it so its fine, the other part things wow maybe it really is aweful....lol. I chose Aunika (opposed to Annika for pronouncing purposes). I dont think its too weird..i have always liked it...ugh.

Wen i decided on choosing a name i never asked anyones opnion. No matter wat u choose someone isnt gna like it. It is ur child so no one else has a rite to decided wat ur babys name will be. Its completely up to u and ur partner. Im not saying to be rude to anyway but they need to kno their place u kno

My parents hated it when I told them we were naming our now 2 year old Amethyst. But now they have accepted it, and I love it even more now after 2 yrs of using it! Go with what you like, they can get over it!

Yeah thanks...they are old school....my FIL said use Eileen or Gail....I just like something a little more modern....lol. I couldn't believe these two families who have never met, both separately said "please don't name her that"....the nerve!

Me and my bf are naming our son Benny George Hartig III after him and his dad ofcourse...his family says I should name him something else but keep Hartig the last name (my bfs last name) now my mom keeps begging me to name my son Hayden cause that's one that I liked but also name him Meier (my last name) now my other 2 kids are Meier but I knew their dad was a pos and wouldn't stay around and my bf now wants to get married and has taken up my other 2 kids as his own so I think its only fair to name our son after him even though both familys hate it

The same thing happened to me my family and bd family were rude about the name I picked for my son so I told them I wasn't naming him that and I wouldn't tell anyone the name I had picked and when I gave birth I gave him the name we originally chose. It was a kind of bitch nice but I learned the hard way you cannot please everyone and you'll drive yourself crazy trying.

Yes, I've had alot of people give me their (unwanted) 2 cents. We decided on Sebastian Elom. Sebastian is my choice and Elom is my husbands. Its from his country and has specific meaning (something we both think is important.) We've had several people (and by several I mean almost everyone comment on it. ) im at the point of wanting to say if you want to name a baby then have your own. I've carried this child and I am allowed to name him. Most people are concerned about what his nickname is going to be....who cares his name is Sebastian!!

@mama_busy_bee oh tell them that from early on bcuz they will try to get into the room. Let ur doctor kno as well who u want in there. I let my family kno that it will only be my bf in the room. They have to respect it

If it were up to my MIL my poor baby would be Barbara Ann Elma Rose Harriet Larry Charles (insert last name). At this rate I want to name him/her Cucumber just to piss everyone off. I've found its just best to nod and smile. I like the name you picked. You are the momma and its a beautiful name.

Ohhh that for me was much easier I just said hey its my vag and no one but bd will be in the room. Lol this time I'm bringing hubby and mom but I just tell everyone only mom and hubby and if they say anything else about it I just say its my body my baby keep bitching and you may not even get a call after she is born:) I feel very strongly about this being a special not public thing and if I feel strong about something thats the way it will be. If you tell them flat out and in a way everyone will know its not up for discussion they should just drop it.

I told my bfs dad the name we have picked out for a boy and he says ugh really I would think about that a little more...we have wyatt picked out. There's nothing wrong with that name. But now he insists that we name it if its a boy shamus...really? Wyatt is to weird but shamus is fine. But now he keeps calling the baby shamus and its driving me nuts! My bfs mom told us to tell him its either jason or wyatt bc she wanted to name my bf Jason and he hated it...that way hell like wyatt

My mom and sisters and my MIL ALL had nasty things to say about our name choices. I told them if they want to name kids, they better start havin' some! But I'm a big B like that. And as for them being in the delivery room, if you didn't make me or the baby, you won't be there! Only my mom and bf are allowed.

Thats a horrible name.....jk lol I like it its very different my son is gonna be named apollo my baby daddy choose it. People are always saying rude comments but its watever we pushing the baby out not them . Beautiful name by the way

Girl name your baby what ever you want its your baby lol if I have a boy I wanted to name him Jaysen Xavier and my mil was like nooo jaysen reminds me of friday the 13th I honestly told her and?? I originally wanted Achilles for a boy. Everyone, including my husband, hates it so its back to the drawing board. I was so upset when he said he didnt like it that I cried.

My dad is actually trying to BRIBE me to name my son Cooper which is his last name smd my maiden name. Hell. F##king. No!!! I changed my last name when I got married for a reason! Cooper reminds me of a guy in camo and a shotgun killing deer. He says its a popular first name now because there was a book with a dog named Cooper in it. I'm not naming my son Cooper, Old Yeller, or Fido.
