So I was at the grocery store today..minding my own business..when a lady comes up to me rubs my belly while saying oh is it a girl!..a little taken back I said no its a boy...tried to smile but I felt so uncomfortable...

Does pregnancy autmatically give permission to strangers to touch us!?

No! The best comeback I've ever heard was simply to rub THEIR belly back! If they act surprised, simply say "well, I thought it was okay since you did it first"... then smile & walk away!

I haven't had anyone grab my stomach. Thankfully the people at work ask before they touch. I don't understand it either. Just because its big.and round doesn't mean it's a big whale at sea world that everyone can rub lol! I don't even touch family members or close friends belly's unless they offer. Its just respectful I think

Ugh. I haven't had that happen to me yet. I'm 6 months along and definitely showing. I'm hoping the weird hair and piercings will keep crazy people and their hands at bay.

I agree ladies..friends and family is fine and they usually ask..but a complete stranger?? I just think its rude..id never do that to some random pregnant lady lol.

A guy at work does this to me but puts one hand on bottom of belly n his other hand on top and squeezes me into a hug..oh my lordy, I can't stand it but i'm too nice to yell at coworkers.

How about when I was only like 3 1/2 months and NOT showing ppl who knew would do it. That bugged me more than anything, like thanks for rubbing my flab weirdo!!! Lol

The only people that did that to me was my best friend mom,my bf nieces..ill cuss somebody out of they did that,like really get the hell back,before you not have a hand.lol

I cant stand when people think its ok to touch a newborn. I'm like really? How would they feel if a random person came up n put their hands all in their face or tickled them.

I would be surprised and taken aback, but I don't think I would be mad if someone touched my belly. I would think that that's what used to happen back in the day when people weren't so impersonal and distrusting of others. I wish that people were a little more friendly and personal in this day and age.

I am by no means saying that you responding in the wrong way.

I wasn't rude to the lady...but I was also in my own world minding my own business and them bam..lady with hand on my belly...just thought..hmm this is awkward.
