Working and Pregnant (Fed Up)

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
I am so sick of my job. They know i'm pregnant and that i'm going through morning sickness. My boss has no consideration and I called out this morning. He got the nerve to tell me to have someone cover my shift. That is not my problem. So now, I plan to take it easy since I have the sickness all day but I am afraid, I will not have a job tomorrow. that job stresses me out, besides I work around food so I get quesy all the time. Anyone have any advice?

  • Just hang in there itl get better. My job stinks too my team lead works my last nerve on purpose and I wanna go off on her so bad but I just hold in because I know that I'm there for my babys
  • Two pieces of advice, as I'm in a similar situation.

    1) keep your eye on the prize. Keep in mind that employers generally don't feel happy with pregnancy because they have to work around it. Make sure to let the HR department know about your pregnancy, and let them know about these complications.

    2) your health and babies is ALL that matters. If you're having morning sickness speak with your obgyn, they have meds to keep that at bay. Take time off if needed. I was at the point I was crying everyday at work because of the stress. I went and talked to my female manager and told her, explaining that I couldn't Do it, and if they couldn't help, I would have to go on bedrest, as my doctor told me that. And they are being much better now.

Basically, do what you have to for yourself and baby. Please message me if you need to talk. Support would help us both :). Good luck dear.
  • My work is being assholes to me too. I need reduced hours and I am a manager. They told me if I reduce my hours they would demote me. Which if they even try I will sue the pants off of
them. Because under fmla with a drs note I am protected
  • I'm sick of working too I work at an afterschool program I have 30 8 year olds who don't listen I find myself raising my voice at them every day I don't want to get stressed its not good for me and the baby but I need to work until I can I need the money but I have to say my bosses are very understanding and I'm thankful for that
  • UGh my job is the same all they told some to tell me not to take it easy causr its not their problem they are so disrespectful I really just want to stop workin there but I need the money
  • I work in a clinic and was on my feet all day walking around getting patients and whatnot. I had to deal with terrible morning sickness and rude supervisors. I worked and waited until I was about 8 months along before I asked the dr for reduced hours but even when I had the dr note I would still find myself working full days. Smh now im on bed rest due to pre ecclampsia which is great so I don't have to deal with all that stress
  • I worked in a kitchen and the smell of the food made me so sick. I went and got some seabands for motion sickness because they work on pressure points and that got me through my morning sickness stage at work. My job sucks just as bad. I had to go on bedrest due to kidney issues but they actually were nice to me and put me at reduced hours (none) so I could file for uneemployment. Only good thing I can say about my job, but it was prolly cuz I was going to sue them for pregnancy discrimination...
