Diapers

edited May 2011 in Parenting
I have seen a few posts about cloth diapers, but what about disposable diapers? I am 23w4d and I am going to start buying boxes of diapers now so that I don't have to buy any after my little man arrives. However I am not sure what brand to buy? What works the best? Also I am not sure what size to get, should I just get a box or 2 of the newborn and then buy mostly size 1? I am totally clueless!

  • My plan is one box of newborn pampers swaddlers. I have 2 kids already and they were big babies and did not fit in newborn very long. That size has over 100 diapers in the box. Eventually I switched to Luvs they worked well for my first and were cheaper but my second stayed with Pampers all the way thru. Hated Huggies including the wipes.
  • I would try maybe a pack or two instead of a box or two of newborn, because I know from my two experiences so far that I only used newborn for a week or two at most, and I didn't have really big babies either. JMO.
  • Well we are already thinking that he is gonna be big, my husband was over 10lbs at birth and all my sister's have had babies over 9lbs...So I figured newborn would not be in for too long....I am just not sure which brand to get.
  • I personally loved pampers and hated huggies. Usually hospitals supply you with pampers at the beginning as well. I used newborn diapers for well over a month, but everyone is different hun. :) if you think she will be big, id say get one box of newborn 3+ boxes of size 1 and 2+ boxes of size 2's.
  • @MommyOfTwoPrincesses @grnfish73 @Viviya Thank you all for your help. The only thing I know at this point, is that I am not going to use Luv's just based on the gross commercial with the babies having blow outs! lol
  • LMAO. That is gross.
  • That commercial is awful, who r they appealing to???
  • If you can, its better to just buy a few diapers beforehand and then buy them after the baby comes. It saves the hassle of trying to return or exchange them, or being stuck with a bunch of stuff you can't use. I'm just putting the money I would have spent on a giftcard so I can get them later.
  • @laura536 That is a good idea to put the money on a gift card. I may just do that.
  • Thanks, I did it last time and it really helped out, because I didn't buy any bottles or formula, because I was going to breastfeed and that didn't work out and I had to spend a ton right at first on that stuff.
