I have a controversal question im tryin to get an answer to.
I was readin th bible and I started studyin my question so I wanna know your opinion.
I wanna know what marriage is in God's eyes. I came across 2 answers and im dying to know th correct answer.
I read alot of pasages tht said once you are intimate w another person he is your husband & then I read one verse tht said we must follow our government rules an if th government says we must sign a paper to be married then we must follow tht law.
Sorry if I confused yall lol
So biblically based what do yall think ?

I personally believe that it goes with the one u committed your life to with that piece of paper that the government makes u have. Part of following Gods law is following the laws that your elected officials have created. I think the part about marriage when u r intimate comes from the old testament and I believe at that time that was how they sealed their marriage, but now we have legally binding marriage. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I am glad that we get to follow our governments laws also, because I made many mistakes before becoming a Christian and I would not want to have to be married to anyone else but my husband now!

They are both right but im a bit confused too because my bf is my first and only so he is considered my husband but because we are not married we are still fornicating.... Hummmn you just gave me a question to ask my pastor lol

@jbandno3 yeah I read tht too.. I made alot of mistakes in my past meanin I would have multiple hubbys lol

@Mommy2BeAgain yeah I think im going to ask my pastor. I dont want to ever get legally married which is why I was researching if I would be sinning if my significant other and i got th pastors blessing in Gods name and we would be married just not legally. What do yall say?

@I_anaya I know that my pastor would way that u must be legally married, but not sure if all pastors feel this way. My MIL has been a Christian for a long time and she is someone I run some of my God questions past and I know she definitely think sex before "legal"marriage is a sin. Not that we don't sin in so many other ways, but I know for her that is a huge deal.

Marriage is a government thing and has nothing to do with God.

The bible says a lot of different things that can be interpreted in lots of different ways by lots of different people. Do what feels right in your heart.
