cold/room temperature milk...

edited May 2011 in Parenting
So i just learned that theres not medical/nutritional need to warm a babies bottle...i may be late :)but its nice info to know....a lot of babies may prefer warm milk but if they dont mind its not necessary and it saves you lots of time....

How many parents feed their children cold milk and is it easier?

  • I've heard that they're warmed as to lessen the chance of tummy aches/gas but who knows if that's really proven or not.

  • I warmed it for my first becuz he was born in the winter. But for my second after boiling the water (used tap H2O) I would let it sit on the counter (room temp).
  • I used to do room temp or Luke warm out of the tap when my kids switched to formula. It made traveling a lit easier too because I never had to find a place to warm a bottle.
  • Room temp is best. Sometimes with acid reflux warm bottles irritate the stomach more. My daughter and I have it ughh lol

    @grnfish73 thats a good idea...
@mommyof1soontob2 is AR feel anything like heartburn (may be stupid question:) ) if so poor baby:( ive had heartburn (almost everyday) for the first time in this pregnancy and it sucks!
  • I never warmed for my first two and had no gas/fusiness problems..makes life so much easier and no paranoia of burning baby
  • i used room temp water with my 1st. doing the same with this one =)
  • I just knocked the air off with my daughter. I bought a bottle warmer but never used it.

  • I always did room temp or warm when my daughter was a nb. I don't think I would have given her cold formula when she was that little. The warm helped get gas out.
  • It's worse then heart burn! I mean like throwing up in ur mouth and then swallowing it. It's constant pain
  • I don't feed my daughter cold formula, I just don't make it ahead of time. I do wash all the bottles at night. Then first thing in the morning I fill them with water and sit them on the counter. Or grab and go for the diaper bag. But she really has no preference because I have fed her cold food. Whatever makes you and baby happy!
  • I never warmed bottles, she had room temp and even straight from the fridge and we never had gas or spitting up issues.
  • My first would only drink warm bottles. With this one I'm going to try room temperature
  • I just had my baby & he always gets room tempt formula I dont know the first thing abt warming it but he dies have gas pretty bad should I try warming it ?
  • I never warmed my sons milk he took it either room temp or right out the fridge. Never really upset his stomach. I think if you get them used to warm milk its much harder when your out & about and cant find somewhere to warm it. It happened to my cousin. Her baby refused to drink his milk if it wasnt warm.
  • I don't plan on warming up and bottles.
