edited May 2011 in Pregnant
I jus found out yesturday that I have hashimotos that is now the cause of my hypothyroidism. When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidsm I thought I may not be able to concieve as easy as someone without thyroid problems. But I never gave up..even when I miscarried last yr. I am now 8wks pregnant and now scared for my unborn babys journey since now that hashimotos can cause complications in pregnancy including preeclampsia..which 99% happens at 20 to 32 weeks..I jus fear that I won't be able to have kids now if my baby doesn't make it..I pray every day n night that I will get to hold my baby dec 31st. So any help or suggestions will help.

  • I don't have any suggestions, sorry...I just wanted to tell you good luck!!! And lots of sticky baby dust! :)
  • Ill be praying just keep you faith. Sticky baby dust to you!

Oh and my sister didnt get pre-eclamptic til 37 wks. So, not everyone gets it early. Just keep your feet up and stay as stress free as you can.
  • I don't have any advice either. Other then just do everything your Dr recommends. And a positive note... my first was 28wks weighed 1lb 13oz 17 in long... today he's 6 and in the 90% for both height And weight. And has absolutely no problems health or learning wise! Best of luck!

I have it...I was diagnosed when I was having trouble ttc in October 2008-January 2009, and I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. My TSH was 11.4 and my ANA was 250. I started on synthroid in March 2009 and was pregnant in May 2009. My pregnancy was great, other than pregnancy induced hypertension, and my daughter was a healthy and perfect 7 lbd 2 oz. We started to try for baby #2 in January 2011 and I got pregnant in February 2011 :) I'm in my 17th week now and no issues at all :) Hashimotos is an autoimmune disorder, so it is passed from generation to generation, mainly in females. My Mom and Maternal Great Grandmother have it, my paternal grandma, paternal aunt and cousin, and my sister. Pretty sure my daughter will have it too. Just make sure they check your TSH every trimester, take your synthroid...and that's all you can do. People with Hashimotos are at a great risk for Rheumatiod Arthritis, Diabetes and high blood pressure...so make sure you are watching for symptoms of those developing. Good luck!:)
  • BTW, my endocrinologist recommends that my TSH stay below 1 in order to get pregnant and maintain a healthy pregnancy. My last TSH was 0.38. I feel best when I'm below 1, so they keep me there by adjusting my dose. My TSH did get to 3 with my daughter, but they increased my dose and everything was fine.

  • Yes, I do trust God and pray that our little ones are born healthy and that our bodies recover from the pregnancy. I also have a friend who had thyroid cancer and got it taken out and had 3 healthy children!
  • @cynthiaY really wow that's amazing! I guess I need not to worry much... I remember sitting in my doctors office lookin at his models of different thyroid diseases and what they do to the gland and I prayed I didn't have one of them..but I know I'm not alone and there is hope of having a baby.
