had an episode of tachycardia and shortness of breath...anyone else?

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
I'm 22 weeks preggo with twins...well, today my heart rate has been constant in the 110's and I've been short of breath all day. I've been totally give out today too. Anybody else went through this? I know I can expect my HR to increase due to increased blood volume from 2 babies and less room for lung expansion. I'm thinking about calling my doc in the morning if it doesn't get better......

  • I would def call the doc bc it could put stress on the babies
  • Last week i had to go to the emergency room cause my heart would not stop racing. Luckily i went when i did my heart was going 206-211 bpm so they me meds through my iv to stop my heart literally. It started up after a min. It was still going about 106. So i ended up staying for a few days for monitoring. I talk to a cardiologist and he ordered a heart u.s. So he thought i had did some damage n luckily i didnt. He put me on meds to maintain a normal h.r. And after bby he wants to do a procedure called Ablation. Im kinda scared but if i have to do it i will for my health n my kids. I never had a fast heartbeat till this pregnancy around 5 months. So if i were you just get it checked out to be on the safe side. Sorry for the long post :)
  • Thanks!! Yep I'm going to call in the morning to see if they wanna check me I've never had problems with this either. My normal heart rate is 60-70. I'll definately go to the ER if it goes up to 120. Gosh 200's...glad u and ur baby are ok!!
  • Doc wants to see me @ 10am this morning. ..and my boss wont let me work till I get clearance from him. :-/ he says 110s to 120s are a little too much on the high side
  • I do daily no doc cares or believes me. My episodes are random. And runs in family. Mom coded in er and they swore she was nuts for years.
  • Sounds like my mom too!! Its hereditary, called SVTs...heart rates can get into the 200's. That's what I'm doing too, just random. My doc wants me to see a cardiologist asap so I've got an appt and ekg in the morning for that. Get a 2nd opinion girl...an increased heart rate can put stress on the baby.
