  • Yes you can breastfeed with piercings, but you need to take them out to allow proper latching. From what I have been told its all spongy tissue and the milk doesn't come out one specific hole
  • I breastfed after having pierced nipples, the dr just said obviously I couldn't nurse while my barbells were in, I just decided to take them out and leave them out. It wasn't messy or weird or anything, though the dr kept forgetting and asked a couple times if I have cracking, I just had to say no that's from my piercings.
  • Make sure to disinfect then b4 and after too that way u don't get infection or pass on bacteria to the baby. Idk about its bit mine still drain white blood cells even after 2 yrs. When I start leaking colostrum I'm going to take em out. As for now they aren't causing me any problems but everyone is different. I just don't want to pass any bad bacteria to my baby :) that's just me. Gl lots of moms have nipple piercings!
  • Thanks for all the feedback i love my piercings theres other 1's i no i will hv t take out which will b painful is it best t take them out before hand and let them heel or wil i b ok puttin thmin afta birth xxx
  • I already took my belly ring out. If u have a hood piercing u should be able to put it back in after u deliver tho. Even a clit piercing u should be fine. Know that when u get ready to deliver tho u will get swollen down there so is take it out when u start having contractions that way ur skin doesnt swell around it and possibly get stuck. If u have a perinium piercing u may have to remove it perminatly if they do an epesiotomy.
  • I have my nipples done, had them with all my kids. I just took them out to nurse, then cleaned them&the jewelry&put them back it. It was time consuming, but I didn't want the trouble of getting the re-done. I left my belly button in each pregnany with no issues, but they do make plastic flexible jewelry, I found some on Amazon. My hood I've had for the last 3 kids, not my first, but I left it in as well. They tried to tell me to take it out for delivery, but it didn't get in the way&I told them to leave it be. I have small jewelry in though, so it doesn't really matter. The nipples whether pierced or not have hundreds of little holes, not one like a bottle nipple. Just when they've been pierced the path of piercing is bigger so the milk flows out faster, so just be careful the baby doesn't choke :)
  • Nipple piercings you will have to take out, but good news for anyone with belly button piercings they make a special "ring" it looks like an elongated bar bell that you can wear while sporting a belly full of baby. As for the "down below " piercings ask your doctor about them, I was told to take mine out but a friend due in July was told her's were fine until she went into labor as long as they didn't bother her. So I think it depends on the doctor's opinion.
  • Oh, the reason I said nipple piercings should be taken out is because while breastfeeding they can be a choaking hazzard to your baby. Make sure you hit the area with a mild antiseptic solution before feeding your baby. Just like you would wash your hands before helping him/her latch on.
  • Yer i'll ask midwife n start lukin for flexible bars ive alredi got thm in my nipples hv dun 4 years.
  • They told me i should take them out cuz the baby cam choak on them, my babies dont really latch on very well, so i just cleaned them and pumped, so i didnt worry about taking them out.
  • I used to take them out for every feeding, wash with foaming antibacterial soap, clean the jewelry, then rub Lansinoh on my nipples. This is the second time I've had mine done, there was scar tissue from the first time so it hurt getting them re-done, so I don't want to go thru it again, so I have to be difficult, lol. But, every doctor is different. My friends doctor had her even take out her tongue ring, saying any&all piercings cause infections. I guess it comes down to your doctor&what you are also comfortable with.
  • Im just jealous cuz my dr made me take mine out at 10 weeks. I had only had then pierced for 3 months.
  • so do yu usually have to take belly button
piercings out right away don't they have barbells for pregos
