ANOTHER labor fake-out.

edited May 2011 in Giving birth
Ok.... what THE EFF. So last night I started having contractions at 10 o'clock. And trust me, these could NOT have been Braxton Hicks. They hurt, were regular (about 15 minutes apart), and there was a llllot of pressure on my back and butt. I was even pretty nauseated. I did what my labor class teacher said and peed, got some water, and laid down to see if they would go away. I was still having them at about 11, but I fell asleep (it was a long day, I was exhausted). I woke back up at midnight and was definitely still having them. This time, I was getting them like 10 minutes apart and they were stronger. But the doc said I don't really need to go to the hospital until they are about 5 minutes apart, last more than an hour, and I can't walk or talk through them, which I could. So I laid back down, just waiting for them to get closer together and stronger before I went to L&D. I eventually fell asleep again, and woke up again this morning. My boyfriend and I were so sure I was in labor, we were joking around looking under the sheets for the baby, haha. WHAT THE HELL?!?!? Can someone give me a good explanation for this!? My due date is Saturday, so I am expecting him any day now. Especially since most people where I live deliver early because of the elevation, and my mom was early with both me and my sister.

  • I'm in the same boat. My dr said it's the early early stages of labor. Who knows what that means. It could last weeks.
  • @SOSmommy haha FANTASTIC. I love how all these things they tell you end with "it could mean you are close, it could mean nothing"

I was dilated to a 1 (ONE MEASLY CENTIMETER!) at my last appointment, and she was like "well, some women are not dilated at all and then that night they are in labor, some women will be dilated 3 centimeters for two weeks!"
  • @lhanafi I know, it's so frustrating. I'm having these contractions, but no dilation yet, but they still say the same thing, "could be soon... Could be a while" gee, thanks! lol
  • Really everyone??? Nobody else has some kind of explanation for me!?
