Movement question/experiences

edited May 2011 in Second Trimester
Okay ladies, so I am 18+3 today and have yet to feel baby move. Anyone else with me? I'm reading all kinds of posts about how 19 and 20 week babies are moving like crazy...it's kinda worrying me to be honest. I am a bit on the larger side, not majorly, but I've heard that can affect it. I go in for my anatomy scan on sunday, so I'm sure I will feel better after that, it would just be comforting to feel my baby moving.
Part of me wonders if I am feeling it and just not realizing it, but alot of ladies say "you will know" and I just havn't had that A hah! moment yet. There are times where I'm like..."was that it....? but I always chalk it up to muscle twitches cause that's what it feels like and I've had them randomly even before pregnancy.
Any other ladies not feel their babies yet at this point? When did you start feeling it?

  • Mine feel like a muscle spasm. I'm 16 weeks
  • Is this your first pregnancy? I know it sometimes takes some time for you to realize what you are actually feeling if you haven't experienced it before. I don't remember how far along I was with my first when I started feeling movement. I am 19 weeks tomorrow and have been feeling this little man for a couple weeks but nothing regularly. Also if you have an anterior placenta (placenta is in front of the uterus closer to your belly and not your back), it makes it harder to feel the kicks early.

I hope you start feeling your little one soon. By the end of your pregnancy you are going to want the baby to stop kicking/moving so much especially when you are trying to sleep.
  • @ juliek77 yes it is my first pregnancy. I'm sure your right, one day I will wish for the peace, it's kinda like after they are born...you can't wait for them to walk and talk, but then theres times you just want them to sit down and shut up. lol b-(
  • I was 18w3d when I first knew for sure I was feeling him! Now he moves all the time. Don't worry, some first timers don't feel it til 22w! Try laying on your back, that's when my lil bug goes crazy lol.
  • Im 22.4 weeks pregnant and at 22 is when I finally started to feel my little girl kick. I was so scared thinking something was wrong because this is my first pregnancy. But mine feel like my lower stomach muscles are twitching :) best of luck hope you feel the little one soon
  • ty @lilpeapod913 and @mommajtall that makes me feel a bit better!
  • @sunshine25 i didnt start feeling baby till i was about 22 weeks this is my first pregnancy and i am heavier set and it scared me too!!! and even now she doesnt move that much. today was the first time i was able to see her move from the out side and i am 29 +4. My dr. says that she is just not an overly active baby and that she is just comfortable where she is. That i shouldn't worry unless there is a change. like if during the times i usually feel her move she doesnt move then let them know. i also found out if i forget and lay on my back or belly she'll move around.
  • im 18 and 1 mine felt like taps or a fish floppin in my stomach..
  • I have random muscle twitches too.but not in my stomach so I knew.at my 20w scan I feel her move like a couple times every few days but on the monitor she wouldn't stay in one place and I didn't feel any of it.I asked my doctor why was that.and my doctor told me that I would feel her more when she gets bigger.
  • Oh and it feels like a gas bubble but stops short so u know it's the baby. Now that I'm 24 weeks, I can actually see my belly jump! Its cool :)
