Ava is breastfeeding like a champ!

edited May 2011 in USA moms
She is latching on great with the nipple shield and sucking it down! Couldn't be happier. They say if everything goes well I can bring her home from nicu this Wednesday. Her due date isn't even until july 5th. Im so proud of my strong healthy baby.

  • Great news! Congrats! :)
  • Thanks. Im so happy. Its so much easier than preparing bottles and cleanup. Everyone should try breastfeeding. If I can do it with a 34 week preemie anyone can.
  • Yayyyyyy!!!!! Might need ava to teach my gabriel some tricks when he comes out in Oct! Lol

  • Ah, gotcha. Yeah, not a problem here. My nipples are very pokey-outy.
  • Yay!so glad she's doing awesome!
  • @bri2186 she weighs 4lbs 3oz. Her mouth is so tiny she had trouble latching on. For some reason she does better with the shield. Guess cause its shaped and feels more like the bottle nipple.
  • My girl would not latch onto my nipple or the nipple shield! Congrats to you! Hope u get to take her home!

@tiff87124 I really not sure. The nicu nurse just got me one and I don't even know what size it is. I saw them in the store today. Only saw 2 sizes and they were 2 different brands. I would see if you can find any answers online or ask the lactation specialist or nurses when you are in the hospital after having baby. The one im using is Medela
