I still take baths all the time. I'm on my feet all day so my legs, feet and back get really sore. It helps so much. I like it pretty hot but I keep my belly out of the water lol
As long as your water hasn't broken (or is leaking) and your baths are not too hot, you can -and should!- take baths right up until delivery. It's a good way to help ease the back & pelvic pain. You shouldn't bathe after your water has broken to avoid infection, unless you're in active labor... some doctors encourage it then to help get through labor, and some hospitals provide tubs specially designed for it. It IS okay to take a bath at home when you're in labor, but I would ask someone else to thoroughly clean and/or disinfect the bath tub first, just to be safe. Good luck & enjoy!
@starrxoxo9 ...they say not to have your bath too hot because it can raise your body tempurature, so it doesn't completely matter if your belly is in it; if it's hot enough to make you sweat, it's probably too hot for baby's safety.
I took baths almost every other day while preggerz. Baths were the only thing that got me through the last days of pregnacy. 3 days of labore weres on ya. The warm baths help. As long as there not Hot! You'll be good. Kinda missing my baths waiting on drs ok to leap back in..lol I had my baby 4wks ago by c-section.
@starrxoxo9 ...No worries, then, hon! I was just saying that 'cause everyone has a different idea of what a "hot" bath is; my husband's idea of a hot bath would burn the skin off of me, lol... I like a "hot" bath, too, but only when I'm not preggo. I'm too hot already right now, lol...
According to baby books and and most ob's you dont have to quit taking baths but having a bath water temp over 99 degrees can be life threatening to the baby due to the rise of your body temperature, at ANY time during the pregnancy. Its possible that the baby will over heat and it can cause severe brain damage as well as death to the child. Not trying to be a bummer, just repeating what the baby books i have read and what my ob has told me.
