I'm a smoker. I wanted to quit before I became pregnant. I just found out Monday that I'm expecting. I'm trying to cut down and stop but I've been smoking for a long time. Anyone have any tips for a healthy way to help?
I personally want to say good job on making the effort I am trying to quit also in no way do I condone it but so far my baby is healthy main thing is don't stress ok gl
My man is being supportive but not pressuring me he also smokes and believe that god knows we want this baby soooo much and god will keep it safe and healthy
Just stop.. the minute I found out I was pregnant I did my growing baby is more important than anything read about what your doing to your growing fetus maybe that will help you..
Set goals. Say by the end of next week you'll have cut down by so many cigarettes each day. Or that you'll have broken two habits, like smoking right after a meal or the first one in the morning.
When I quit I wasn't pregnant, but I was up to two packs a day and had been smoking for 7 years. I found that procrastinating was a lot let stressful than outright denial. When you have a craving, tell yourself you can have one in an hour, then distract yourself. Maybe compare items for your baby registry. You will find yourself watching the clock a lot at first, but it gets better. And if you are feeling stronger or want to reduce more, make it two hours or something.
I dropped to one a day, and only after 10:30 pm for a month, then just stopped. Stale cigarettes also helped as a deterrent. Don't even want to smoke the whole damn thing.
I quit after 13 years of smoking literally 2 days b4 I found out I was pg. Surprisingly it wasn't difficult at all this time, no idea why since I've tried and failed so many times. Suckers helped a lot as did carrots. Sometimes I even took an unlit cig and acted like I was smoking and that surprisingly helped. Good luck and don't beat yourself up if you mess up, just keep trying.
I'm 9 weeks and still smoking. My husband is not pressuring me but does keep reminding me. Also good coworkers that keep reminding me that my marsupial ( as he calls it) doesn't like niccotine.
You all can ask your doctors for something to help you quit....I know it is hard and I too am a smoker of many years.....I have gotten some meds from the doctor that are safe for me and baby and it is helping lots....havent fully quit yet but really really close to it...I have cut way down to maybe 1 a day I light it take a puff and put it out and then later do the same thing.....put in your mind that they make you feel sick.....;it helps as well
Thanks all. The smell of the is starring to make me sick which I'm thankful for. I feel the babe is trying to let me know its time. I've asked my man to try and quit with me. He agreed. Hopefully the added support will help.
Ya I switched to e-cigs since they don't have all the bad stuff in them. Plus I can put liquid in them and have been decreasing the mg amount of nicotine. They also have ones with 0 nicotine if u mainly smoke for the oral fixation like I do. It's only vaporized water. So its just like smoking with the smoke and all but no bad stuff in it look up volcano e-cigs that's the brand I use and they r great!
