Im not going to lie and say it is easy. I spent a few nites up crying due to lack of sleep, pain, or frustration. But, it was totally worth it. If you are determined, you can do it! I went to a weekly breastfeeding support group through my hospital and they really pulled me through the tough times and taught me a lot! When are you due?
It only hurt me for the first week or so while getting used to it. I love doing it for her, but it is a pain. I strictly breastfeed so its difficult trying to plan things because I don't like doing it in public.
What hurts about it ladies? Does it hurt the whole time? I've never breastfed before I didn't know it was painful I knew it could be but not the whole time.....
It didnt hurt the whole time for me! Just in the beginning when she was learning to latch properly. She also got thrush and gave it to me on my nipples so that was painful for a little while. My daughter came home at 4 lbs 5 oz and her stomach they said probably less than a half ounce. In the beginning she ate for a half hour to 45 mins and would sleep for an hour and then feed again for close to the first two weeks. It was very tempting to use formula bc everyone said it would keep her full longer. I would say after 2 weeks or so it was smooth sailing I am curious to see what its like with my son bc every baby is different. @pregoagainyay
If you are thinking about breastfeeding, you should read the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. It is wonderful. It really answers alot of questions about breastfeeding and what to expect and how to trouble shoot. It is AMAZING! I am also going to breastfeed and my sister recommended the book to me....I had no idea there was so much to consider, I thought I would just know what to do!
I was planning to breastfeed after my delivery. Then the more I read up on it I decided not to. Now I'm considering again lol. Oh well we'll just have to see how the baby decides :-)
