Is it really...?

I had an ultrasound at 25w4d, and the doctor told me that it "looks like a boy"...so, we've been planning for a boy.
My MIL-to-Be swears that in all of her pregnancies, her boys stayed really high and the girls stayed fairly low. For about 3 weeks after my doctor's appointment, Baby was kicking in the very top portion of my stomach, but now, I'm feeling a lot of movement right around my belly button and sometimes a little lower. Because of all of the stories I've heard, I'm terrified that all of the boy stuff I've bought is going to have to go back---I'm so afraid the next U/S could reveal a girl.

How accurate are U/S at 25 weeks??

  • Extremely! I was told at 15 weeks it was a boy and then confirmed at 18 weeks. Rest assured, your little boy has very distinctive boy parts at that far along in pregnancy! Congrats momma :) and you aren't too far off from me, I'm due 9/13
  • Most inaccurately sexed babies are girls. You don't normally have anything to worry about with being told you have a boy. I was told at my 14 week ultrasound that I was having a boy and he's still a boy.
  • From what I know it is more common to have a false girl then it is to have a false boy...if they saw a penis it shouldnt disappear. I'm having a boy and carrying low! And at 25w it should be very accurate!

  • @lilpeapod913 Unfortunately, my first "U/S" was the one at 25 weeks...I had ONE other one, in an emergency situation and wasn't allowed to see him---that was at 16 weeks.
At 25 weeks, they said it "looked" like a boy...which is really what we wanted (not that we wouldn't be happy, either way). I think that, my fear came in when I started noticing lower movements and my MIL-to-Be and all of her friends started with the whole "maybe it's not a boy, after all" kick.

I have another doctor's appointment in the morning and I'm going to request for them to determine gender one more time, just to be on the safe side. I'm getting ready to send out 150+ baby shower invitations, so it's kinda crucial that I have a general idea :p
  • @FirstTimeMommyToBe That's where I feel the majority of my movement....like, right in between my ribs, at the top of my stomach. One night, he was kicking so high while I was sitting in bed that I felt my bra move :p it was like he was kicking the wire in it. Lately, though, most of my movement has been right around my belly button. My Hubby-to-Be was trying to make me laugh the other night and stuck his finger in my belly button and Baby kicked it right back out...it was priceless!!
  • Ive carried both my boys low and my girl was high
  • I carried my girls high and my son low...but I really think it has more to do w mamas body type than babies sex.

  • I feel my baby boy kick me in the belly button and below. Sometimes he ventures higher, but most often I feel and see kicks and squirming lower.
  • I'm had a boy and carrying another. They were both real low.
  • Everyones pregnancy is different hun my mil was the same way bc my husbands family was all boys for 5 generations I was definatly not having a girl this time its impossible for the stevens to have a girl well guess what im 23 weeks pteggo with a girl! Mils think they no all but listen to YOUR gut!!! and at 25 weeks there weenies r fully formed so if they saw a weenie its not going anywhere :)
  • @FirstTimeMommyToBe In the beginning, I got a lot of really low kicks...then, at about 26 weeks, I started getting a lot of movement from my belly button up...and I do mean A LOT of movement.! Hubby-to-Be says the baby has "Happy Feet" which I think is precious! Lately, I've been kicked and punched just about everywhere he can reach!! I'm really confident that it's a boy...you could see what looked like boy parts to me. I have an appointment early in the morning, so I'm going to double check, but I feel really certain it's a little boy!!

I'm so excited. I can't wait for him to get here...
