Do support belts really help?

My back is killing me and my doctor recommended a support belt but says it's best to get measured for one. Do they really help? Does anyone one here use one/do you like it?

    I use mine when I am doing house cleaning. I tore a ligment in my groin and really helps even out the weight.

    Oh yes. I actlly stopped wearing mine cause I'm having a hard enough time remembering I'm on bedrest. I needed the pain to force me to be good

    I wore mine all day one day when I was doing a lot of walking and my back still hurt towards the end of the day. I liked how it made me feel more stable and not so loose though. I'll probably try it again when I get bigger.
