Looking at Target's Breast Pumps..anyone tried the The First yrs MiPump

edited June 2011 in Breastfeeding
I already have a manual medela pump set thing that a friend gave me (She never used) and when I showed it to my mom she said it will hurt my boobs. So I don't plan to purchase a electric pump until I am sure I'm going to stick with breast feeding (which I 100% plan to sticking with because of the benefits for me and munchkin) but some of the pumps are ridiculously expensive except the First years mipump is only 71.99 and is 2nd to the Medela Electric pump set. Has anyone use either the Medela Manual pump or the MiPump? The reviews for the MiPump highly contradict themselves. Any tips? And what are nursing bras for?

  • I'm using the.....Advent electric breast Pump it was only $199.00 @ Super Target and so far so good it has kepy up with me and all my pumping. I'm now back to work and I take it with me. I pump probly 4 to 5 to times a day. :)
  • Do you have wic?? They will loan you out one. I hear its the double electric expensive kind too. If you don't know if you wanna stick with it, then I would ask them.
  • I have a medela pump (electric) and I wouldn't go manual unless you want to work out those arms. The cost is worth it especially if you have more kids. Good luck.
  • I got a medela electric pump off ebay super cheap. You can also check with your hospital about getting one to use from them. Alot of them will rent them to you.
  • How do you ensure that all the parts are clean when you buy off ebay of borrow from hospital or wic..... this will be the first time I try to breastfeed and I plan on pumping only I feel weird otherwise.....I've never really seen the electric pumps and I'm not sure they can be taken apart enough to clean all the parts....is it possible?
  • I used the mi pump and hated it. It took forever to pump out milk. I did like that it had different attachments for the different types of bottles. I've been looking into a new breast pump simplisse. I think I'm going with that one this time.
  • I got the first years double pump its really nice and works with the breastflow bottle system. Haven't used it yet but played around with it a little its comfortable and fits the breast nicely. I got mine online at walmart it was the whole kit carring bag double pump 2 breastflow bottles and more and had it shipped to the store it was 66 and some change and the target here it was about 20 more
  • @mgrose the hospital gives you brand new sterile equipment for the pump. You can buy the Medela accessory kit at target if you get that brand off ebay.
