edited June 2011 in Breastfeeding
Im only pumping out about a half an ounce for a 15 min session...my son seems to wanna eat ALL the time....im just worried hes not getting enough milk and that why he wants to nurse so much........and how long will my nipples b sore or what I could do for relief?

  • Besides lanolin...it helps but still very sore
  • Honestly I cld never pump more then a ounce, but nursed full time, it never seemed to make sense. And try lanolin, its amazing!

  • I completely read bm as bowel movement and thought, omg, why is she measuring that?! LOL

But it's difficult to measure breastfeeding, baby can eat quite often and that's normal. If he's having wet and dirty diapers, he should be fine. The pump different than baby's mouth so it's not an accurate measure,
  • I also felt the same way like if she wasn't getting full but then I took some breast feeding classes and they explained to me that they are supposed to eat every 2 hours and the majority of time they are latched on your nipple they are not sucking they just love the feeling being next to you. :) you are lucky to be able to pump every time I try nothing comes out :( But I am still BF
  • This is so confusing...he has plenty of dirtu diapers so I guess hes fine....pumping seems like more trouble sometimesits easier just to nurse ...
Any other suggestions for sore nipples
  • Lol @laura536 I totally thought the same thing... I even read the title to my bf and he said the same thing....

Your prolly making enough milk, as long as your baby is gaining weight.

  • I read it as bowel movemnet too. It will get better. Don't wash them with soap in the shower. It will be worth it!
