For baby to not like or have trouble with my breastmilk? She is 3 days old and spits up my breastmilk so much. She doesn't burp well after feeding her breastmilk either. I'm so frustrated. I want her to be breastfeeding so badly. She has trouble latching on because my nipples are on the flat side but I keep trying with a nipple shield and sometimes I attempt without it. It's not working out for us so I keep pumping and she spits it up alot. I'm formula feeding also and she takes formula so much better. I feel like I failed. :(

  • its good that you are trying to pump, sometimes pumping can help pull out the nipple. with my son i had one inverted nipple and it was so difficult. nipple shields are difficult to use sometimes, but, again, can help. babys spit up. i know with my first she spit up more than she consumed. but it sat better with her as time went on. maybe you are eating something that doesnt digest well for her. dairy, spices, etc. also, try calling your hospital lactation nurse. they can observe baby latching and amount she is spitting up.
dont feel like youve failed. youve only failed if you had refused to consider breastfeeding. so you have already gotten here. it's true, breastfeeding is not for all baby's and mothers. but you still have options left, so dont fret!!
