Ok so I'm watching babies behind bars. It's about woman who have committed a crime being allowed to keep there babies in jail with them. What's your opinions on this??
for the program that they have i think it's great. especially because a lot of family do not support their loved ones behind bars, let alone them allowing their babies to stay there, but they dont want to take responsibility of the baby once it's born. the babies don't really see the "behind bars" life. the best part is that they have standards- if mom committed a violent crime they won't allow the baby to even be considered. i, personally, like the fact that moms have an opportunity to change their and their babies lives. most importantly, they provide them counseling, parenting classes, how to deal with baby in certain situations, etc.
I'm watching that! lol i think its a good idea for mum's who have just like had a bad year i.e not constant re offenders and for none violent crimes and obviously so long has they ain't going to be in long after babies born
How long are they allowed to keep their babies? The frist 3-4 years that could be ideal for the babies after that I couldn't see keeping the children in prison. It would be time to go live with dad id hes around or other family
i believe they are only allowed to be elligible for the program if they have less than one year term left on their sentence once baby is born. non violent offenders and the babies are still kept in the nursery, outside time, field trips etc. so it's not like the kids suffer.... imo!
I think its great for the baby and the mother...but I think after the baby is 2yrs old...he shouldent be in that invorment anymore...he needs to live a normal childhood and prison is that the place...i think its a great program for mothers who are serving 12months or less.....
