I have Kaiser insurance and go to Kaiser hospital. I took a early pregnancy class around 15 weeks. They provide classes for us and recommend to take childbirth preparation around 27-36 weeks, newborn care class around 32-38 weeks, late pregnancy & tours during 3rd trimester, and breast feeding at 30-38 weeks. Good luck!
On my hospital's website they have a separate registration line for ahcccs patients...I didn't know insurance covered it! Woot! Is there a limit to how much they'll pay for, though? I really want the birthing class, but there's other classes I'd also like to take...
Hmm well mayb I should hop to it then!! Lol I appreciate all the feedback =] im sooo nervous. Wat do they do there?? Im so ignorant when it comes to this stuff cuz netime sum1 talks about it I do somethin else cuz I pass out..=/ im tryna get better..@minirip@gemini_babies@stacyrae
I'm 29 weeks and just started mine. I went online and looked at the schedule. I called and gave them my state medical insurance card number and the state paid for it
For the early pregnancy we learned about baby development during pregnancy, nutrition, what to avoid, remedies for common discomfort, what to expect at appointments, and our health care team. For late pregnancy class we learn about the last trimester of pregnancy, info on delivery and postpartum stay, and take a tour of l&d. The childbirth prep class provides info on labor, birth, lamaze techniques, c-sect, epidural, postpartum adjustments, role of support from partner, etc. The newborn care class gives info on breastfeeding, Jaundice, crying, warning signs of serious problems, basically caring for newborn. Safe from harm and CPR is about baby proofing the house, correct positions for baby, proper use of car seats, etc, and CPR course.
TThe breast feeding course teaches you techniques for breastfeeding, selection and useof a breast pump, storing milk properly, introducing bottle to the baby, engorgement, managing growth spurts, etc. most of the classes are free. the only thing that cost me $ was the childbirth prep class and the CPR certification. It is really helpful to attend the classes. Goodluck!
