Breast feeding and bottle feeding at the same time

edited July 2011 in Babies
I had my baby july 1st and chose to nottle feed because she wouldnt latch on. Before I left they asked if I was doing both or one I said no just bottle feeding not thinking I could use a pump. If I were to buy a pump now woild it be a good idea to
1) bottle and pump at same time
2) how much milk would I typically be pumping?
3) whats the best way to do both formula and breast milk
4) whats the best way to pump like how long on each breast?

  • I bottle and pump I would advise get an electric and what I do is pump till I'm empty then feed the breast milk and top up with formula if needed.

  • Also to begin with don't expect to get much milk the more you pump the more your supply gets up the more you will get
  • I pump every 3-4 hours, for 20 minutes on each breast and put in a bottle For her. The more you pump, the more you will produce. Then I supplement with formula as needed. Remember to keep very hydrated and this will help your supply as well
