so im 34 weeks and I was just wondering how is it that some moms know how much their babies weigh, my doctor doesnt ever check stuff like that, he just listens to the heart beat, I would really luv to know how much my lil monkey man weighs right now.....

  • i asked my midwife but that isnt always accurate we are basically going on guesses sweetie
  • Im also 34wks n have no idea how much my babygirl weighs. All my nidwife does is take urine n listen to her heartbeat smh
  • I was measuring big when I was preg so they ha a to do more. If I was measuring w. How far I was I wouldnt have gotten anymore u/s.
  • I just read a post where a mommy says shes is 33 or 34 weeks and she says her baby is weighing more then 3lbs.....i wanna know...so im prepared for birth...lol..
  • Your midwife can make a guess or it can be determined by u/s but that can still be off from anywhere to 2lbs. Only, this late in the game, you won't get an u/s unless you pay for it or they need to check on the baby for growth or any problems. I had an u/s at 32 weeks for growth and they said he was 4.2 lbs then at 35 and he was 5.11lbs.
  • thanks ladies. i feel better...usually I dont post anything but this was really picking at me....im glad im not the only one that wants to knw....

  • I also use the What to expect app, and every week it gives you an estimate weight. It's not based directly on your real pregnancy, but its like an average weight. Like this week I'm 31 weeks, and the average baby weighs around 4 lbs.

  • My lil girl is gonna b a chunker lol I had a 3d sono at 30 weeks 5 days n they said she was 4.9lbs! Otherwise I would have no clue how big she is bc my doct only checks urine and heartbeat as well

  • Yepp agreed eith the other ladies. The only way they can estimate it is yhrough the ultrasound. And that can be very off as well
  • @kay_la_la that isn't completely true.. my midwife that I had my first two pregnancies measured the baby using her hands palpitating my uterus and feeling and she was only a few oz off..... but she had been doing it for awhile so I dunno.. @homebirthadvocate knows what I'm talking about maybe she can explain it better then i

  • Hmm i dunno.. i guess if theyve been doing it for awhile they can try. I just know that theyre able to actually measure all the limbs and circumference with the u/s.
  • Okay that mkes sense lol now i gotcha! My midwife hardly touches my belly. Smh.
