Preeclampsia

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
Ok so for the last 3 days I have been in & out of the hospital... I feel like I'm going to pass out if I take more than 10 steps. I get dizzy & light headed & I have a shortness of breath... its really worrying me because my heart will race & I get a headache. Doctors can't tell me wat it is but they can tell me wat it isn't...I think it might be Preeclampsia a friend of mine had it & she said it started that way... so I'm hoping it isn't... & just last night I started cramping like crazy & I don't want to go bak to the hospital so they can say I'm fine... wat should I do?

  • I had preeclampsia with my daughter. Did they take urine from you and did they take your blood pressure. If you have protein in your urine and high blood pressure that's preeclampsia. I never had any cramping from it.
  • U can buy hp cuffs at the store. I have one bc mine went up and down alot the last time. I typically run in the range of 115/65. Last time it got up to 160/120 but for really no reason at all. It stayed high until a few weeks after I had my daughter. This pregnancy it has been staying under control. I did make some diet changes the last time. Got rid of a lot of salt. It made me feel better.
  • It actually sounds like the opposite of preeclampsia. It sounds more like your BP is dropping, instead of racing. Your heart will start pumping faster to compensate for it. But by the time you get to the hospital it will have evened out, so its very hard to catch. Your body is able to correct low BP a lot easier than high BP. Next time it happens, sit down & take very long, deep breaths. Your BP will correct. I'm a paramedic & I have low BP naturally. It's very frightening, but very common.
  • Thanks very much ladies I been worried they thot I might have P.E. but they ruled that out quickly... its just weird bucz I'm still very active in this pregnancy & I can run almost a mile b4 I even start to get out of breath... that's my main concern cuz I'm not lazy with this pregnancy.
