whooping cough

edited July 2011 in Health
So I took my 6yr old into the dr today for What I was hoping was Just a cold... but the Dr said his symptoms fit that of whooping cough...so they swab his nose and tested him and told me to quarantine him till we get the results back which should be ob Monday :( ugh so long......any ways I'm worried about my other child and myself.. he's only two and I'd hate fir him to get it also..and I'm sure it sounds selfish but I certainly don't want it at 32 wks pregnant...his Dr didn't say anything about me and my other child staying away from him....do you think I should worry?

That's Just it @OregonMoma I'm 32 wks I don't think they'd give it to me.. and yes @caffeinated_Kate both my boys had the vaccine
  • At this point, I'd say you're already exposed, so it wouldn't matter. Hopefully, it's not whooping cough!
  • Yes, after you give birth, they should offer to give you the pertussis vaccine. They did offer it to me, and I got it a day after she was born. At this point, I would say if it is pertussis, and if your 2 year old does not have signs/symptoms thne he is probably okay.
