What do they check for with the baby and after that is it a waiting game on when will baby be here

They might check to see how the baby is developing but usually they schedule additional ultrasounds if they're concerned about something. Congrats and best wishes:-)

My doctor always schedules an ultrasound after 30 weeks.

Maybe he's checking the babies development in case you go into labor early
