My boyfriends sister said she'd get us a deal on a cake (she claims she got her daughter's custom 3 tier for $40)
But the price came back and its $160?? For a two tier cake....deal? My ass....kinda bummed

Wish I knew how much mine was or what its like, but I know its a cute sea creature themed cake to go with the rest of my stuff. My cousin is doing my shower and the same baker who makes all her cakes, even her wedding cake, is doing my shower cake. $40 for a 3 tier cake seems ridiculously cheap unless Sandra Lee is making it.

I'm getting this cake I carrot with a black baby and blue ribbons instead a pink.


It'll be about $300 but I might have them make it a little bigger so I have leftovers.

Oh sorry...I was getting distracted. lol. I used to be a Pastry Chef and Baker so I am making these cute little cupcakes with baby girl designs like butterflies, ladybugs and flowers on them for my baby shower.I got a nice cupcake display for it, too! I am also making these little petit fours desserts and fresh fruit tarts as well. Can't wait!

Mine is going to be a two tier (serves 55 people) for $165 but only the decorations are going to be in fondant the rest buttercream so that price sounds about right.

Ok so.... I got a custom design, 3-tier cake with chocolate peanut butter on the bottom, vanilla with strawberry filling in the middle, and carrot and cream cheese on the top....for 140. It serves about 60 people.

I am pretty sure my boyfriend's sister lied anyway, because his other sister got a good deal on hers and it was $100.

custom cakes are expensive, u have to factor in detail, tiers, layers, etc... i make cakes and custom cakes and people sometimes dont understand what goes into the price factoring until u explain. heres some pics.

@ashes @LMelanson $120 is just right for a simple 3 tier cake with filling... extra if fondant covered with decorations (more work)...thats how i would charge.
