laying on my back

edited July 2011 in Pregnant
Is it really that bad? I have 7 weeks to go and sometimes the only thing that relieves my back pain is to lay flat on my back with pillows under my knees... Should i not be doing this?

  • they say i puts pressure on a vein that delivers blood and all that to your baby, but i read something earlier that says it doesn't hinder the flow enough to really cause any problems for your baby. you might want to ask your doctor, but, imo i don't think it'll hurt your lil one any.
  • If it feels good go for it. If it was hurting you or baby it would not feel good to you
  • I lay on mine but tilted to my left a little
  • I also lay tilted, a pillow wedged under one hip. It makes my upper back feel better.

I think laying on your back can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. If you feel fine and the baby is moving alright, its probably ok. You can check with your dr.
  • I sleep on my back all the time. I fall asleep on my side but wake up on my back. I'm so worried that it will hurt the baby but I'm sleeping. I can't help it. I'm glad I'm not the only one laying or wanting to lay on there back :)
  • I finally asked my doc n he said its fine. He just said if I get headaches, which I don't he suggested just propping my head up.
  • As long as you're able to its fine. I was able to the whole time with my youngest but thid time around can't breathe which makes elevating my sausage swollen feet impossible lol
  • i layed on my back when i couldnt lay on my tummy any more and my little one came out fine! as long as you feel fine your not hurting the baby
  • my doc told me not to lay on my back, but i can recline.
  • Thanks Ladies! If I am not the only one doing it than I feel a little less guilty!
